Community Events & Activities from One Place East
One of our local organisations within the disability support sector has a packed programme of events and activities for the coming weeks. From disability arts to wellbeing workshops, here's what's coming up that may be of interest to our members.
All events are hosted by One Place East unless otherwise stated. CFDN members are welcome to attend unless it is clear membership is required. Contact details are included with each event.
Ro-Tes by Stopgap Dance Company - 22 & 23 August
A joyful, exhilarating outdoor dance show choreographed by disabled artist and wheelchair dancer Nadenh Poan and Stopgap Dance Company. Five world-class Deaf, Disabled and non-Disabled performers share bold movement, irresistible rhythms, and true moments of joy together.
FREE, 30 minutes, no booking needed - just turn up. Seating provided. Access Information Point at all shows. Touch Tour before each show.
Saturday 22 August - 11am & 2pm at Ken Aston Square, Barkingside
Sunday 23 August - 1pm & 3pm at Ilford Town Centre (both shows BSL interpreted)

Calming the Mind & Body - 22 August
An online session suitable for anyone suffering from overwhelm, anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic health conditions, or just wanting to fully relax, unwind and connect with yourself and others.

Faith Tour: St Mary of Eton, Hackney - 26 August
One Place East continues their Faith Tour with a visit to St Mary of Eton in Hackney, where you can learn about the Christian faith.
Wednesday 26 August, 2-4pm. Meeting point: 1pm at One Place East office.

Wellbeing Workshops for your Mental Health - A Journey of Empowerment. Trauma-informed sessions to support you in the world today. Limited slots available.

Module 4: Empowerment of Self-love - Mon 14 & Wed 16 December

Wheelchair Forum - 14 September
Monthly forum for wheelchair users and carers to discuss wheelchair services and shape future improvements. Meets second Monday of every month, 2-4pm.

Journal for Wellness - Fortnightly Writing Group
A fortnightly writing group for reflection and renewal. Each session offers gentle prompts to explore thoughts and feelings, with space to write freely and creatively. No writing experience needed.

Transport Assistance Project (TAP)
One Place East's TAP team helps people with disabilities access transport services including Dial-a-Ride, Taxicard, Redbridge Mobility, Freedom Pass and Blue Badge schemes. They provide guidance throughout the application process.
