Statutory & Mandatory Training Area

Why do I need to do training and what do I need to do?

Great question! Even as a charity, we have a  legal duty to ensure that our volunteers, committee members and trustees all have the relevant training for their roles. Further to this there is also Mandatory training that is required as part of the policy and procedure.

This training enables you to have the understanding, tools and access to the right information but also equips you with more confidence in doing your role.

The Charity Commission (our governing body) sets out strict regulations for us to follow to ensure we comply with legislation.

As volunteers, we want you to be equipped with what you need but also feel confident in your role. For example, if you have a safeguarding incident, we want you to feel confident in how to respond and report it to our charity.

To the left (on desktop) or below (on mobile is a video explaining what you need to do and how to navigate the training. Please watch this short video before you get started.

What to do next?

Step 1: Scroll to the training below and click on the video of the training you wish to complete. The training that is marked 'Mandatory' for your role, you must complete. The training marked 'Optional' you can choose to complete unless it is required for your role. If you are in a specific role (ie Trustee), you may have designated training labelled with your role.

Step 2: You can maximise the training video by clicking the small square in the bottom right corner of the video.

Step 3: Make notes if it will help with your learning, however, you can always return here if you ever need to. There is no test or exam so you can complete it at your own pace. If you get stuck, contact Dan.

Step 4: Once you have completed a training module, scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the form. Tick the relevant training you have completed and complete your details. By completing the form you are confirming you have completed the training and understand its content.

Step 5: Once you have completed the form you will be emailed a copy of your certificate and your compliance record will be updated.

You can come back to this area as many times as you need some training is required annually, some every three years and some only once. When your training needs to be renewed you will get a reminder email.
